The ability of ticks to survive extended periods between blood meals is dependent on their remarkable tolerance of starvation. Little is known about the underlying aspects associated with starvation survival in ticks. In this study, we examined the response of the American dog tick to starvation using RNA-seq to monitor changes in gene expression.
