SRX3825205: RNA-Seq of Aplysia californica: sexually mature
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 2500) run: 30.3M spots, 6.1G bases, 2.8Gb downloads

Design: Total RNA was extracted from PVC sensory neurons of sexually matured and aged Aplysia. 200 ng of RNA from each sample was used as input for sequencing prep. Libraries were generated using the Illumina Tru-Seq stranded kit following the manufacturer's specifications. 100 bp, paired-end sequencing was performed on an Illumina HiSeq 2500.

Study: Transcriptional changes in sensory neurons with age in Aplysia californica
show Abstracthide Abstract
Aplysia californica is used as a model species for nervous system function due to their relatively simple nervous system. Aged-related behavioral deficits have previously been linked to physiological changed in the sensory neurons innervating the behavior. The goal of this study was to use RNASeq to identify transcriptional changes that may be linked to reduced physiology and behavior in aged Aplysia.
