1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 1000) run: 17M spots, 3.4G bases, 2Gb downloads

Design: 8 males were dissected to remove testes and heads. These males were then pooled and RNA was extracted using a mirVana kit (Ambion) followed by genomic DNA removal using DNAfree kit (Ambion). Multiplexed Illumina libraries were prepared and sequenced at UMD's IBBR sequencing facility using standard Illumina paired-end kits and protocols.
