show Abstracthide AbstractTo investigate the effect of social learning on feeding behavior of mandarin fish, we examined the successful rate of feeding habit domestication from live prey fish to dead prey fish and food intake of dead prey fish in mandarin fish with or without feeders of dead prey fish as demonstration fish. In addition, the analysis of gene expressions and signalling pathways of learning and memory through transcriptome allowed us to gain insight into the molecular mechanism of learning and memory of mandarin fish. These results will support aquaculture domestication programs and research in mandarin fish and lay a solid genetic foundation to understand domestication of feeding behavior.
