Design: Workers were kept in boxes of 5 individuals for 5 days. Scarified at 5 days and reproductive status determined via ovary dissection. Whole heads were cut in half using a lateral incision between the eyes. A random half was selected for RNA extraction. The second half was selected for DNA extraction. RNA was sent for RNA-Seq at BGI (Hong Kong). DNA was pooled by reproductive status and colony and sent for WGBS at BGI (Hong Kong).
