Design: RBCs cDNA was directly produced from lysed cells using SMART-Seq v4 Ultra Low Input RNA Kit (Clontech, Takara Bio, USA). cDNA integrity was tested using the Bioanalyzer 2100 (Agilent, CA, USA).The library construction was carried out using Illumina Nextera XT Library Preparation Kit (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA, USA). Generated cDNA fragments were sequenced in the lllumina Hiseq 2500 platform, using 100bp paired-end sequencing reads. RNA-Seq library preparation and sequencing were carried out by STABVida Lda (Caparica, Portugal).
