SRX7288253: Whole genome sequencing of microcystin degrading Lake ErieSphingobium yanoikuyae
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina MiSeq) run: 1M spots, 139.9M bases, 53.7Mb downloads

Design: Genomic DNA was extracted using the Macherey-Nagel NucleoSpin Microbial DNA kit. Genomic libraries were constructed on using the Nextera XT kit and single-end sequencing was performed using the MiSeq v3 SE150.

Study: Draft Genome Sequences for 13 Microcystin Degrading Bacterial Isolates
show Abstracthide Abstract
From water samples collected in the western basin of Lake Erie, 13 bacterial isolates that degrade microcystin-LR were identified. These environmental bacteria, identified as being from genera Emticicia, Pseudomonas, Runella, Caulobacter, Cellulophaga, Rhizobium, and Porphyrobacter, were sequenced and a draft genome assembled. The genome identified no known microcystin-LR degrading genes or orthologs, but 83 aminopeptidases that may putatively interact with the microcystin-LR structure were identified.
