show Abstracthide AbstractIn the last 5 million years, since humans began to diverge from chimps, African great lake cichlids have radiated into more than 1,000 species that differ in craniofacial morphology, pigmentation, behavior and many other traits. We use reference free whole genome sequence approaches to study evolution in this system, focusing on Lake Malawi cichlids and on micro RNA evolution and incomplete lineage sorting and introgression.
