Carbapenem resistant Gram-negative bacilli that acquire multi-drug resistance (MDR), including resistance to carbapenems, through expression of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and carbapenemases threaten global health. Little is known, however, about circulating antimicrobial resistance genes in CRE isolated from patients in Vietnamese hospitals and their correlation with Gram-negative bacilli that acquire phenotypes.
