Design: Adult ovaries/testes/male thoraces/female thoraces/eggs were dissected from cabbage looper adults 24 to 48 h after emerging. Total RNAs were isolated using mirVana miRNA isolation kit (Ambion) from collected tissue. We size selected 18-40nt long small RNAs and oxidized small RNA library is generated following protocol "Zamore Lab Illumina TrueSeq Small RNA Cloning protocol (April, 2014)". Oxidized library only contains small RNAs with modification (in this case 2′-O-methylation) at the 3′ ends.
