This project aims to disentangle the venom composition of the wasp spider Argiope bruennichi by implementing a venomics approach that is based on dual mass spectrometry platforms and transcriptomics. The project will explore, for the first time, the venom composition of wasp spiders and compare it to other spider venoms.
The work is conducted within the new Animal Venomics Research Group of the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (Department for Bioressources, Giessen, Germany) and the Institute for Insect-Biotechnology at the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen, Germany.
