Gunn rats were subjected to preparative irradiation of the liver and partial hepatectomy as in Figure 1 and were transplanted 2 × 106 hepatocytes from congeneic normal Wistar rats. 2A. Immunohistochemistry of a normal Wistar RHA rat liver, an untreated Gunn rat liver and a Gunn rat liver 12 weeks after hepatocyte transplantation. 2B, Serum bilirubin levels (means + standard deviation) at various time points after transplantation subsequent to the following preparative regimens as marked in the legend box: 70% hepatectomy alone; hepatic irradiation alone; hepatic irradiation plus partial hepatectomy.
