DEAD-box helicase domain of eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-I and 4-II
Eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-I (DDX2A) and eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-II (DDX2B) are involved in cap recognition and are required for mRNA binding to ribosome. They are DEAD-box helicases, a diverse family of proteins involved in ATP-dependent RNA unwinding, needed in a variety of cellular processes including splicing, ribosome biogenesis and RNA degradation. The name derives from the sequence of the Walker B motif (motif II). This domain contains the ATP-binding region.
