Manufacture protocol Oligonucleotide design and synthesis: 50mer oligonucleotides with a 5’ aminolink were designed and synthesised by Operon (Cologne, Germany). Spotting protocol: To produce microarrays silylated slides were purchased from TeleChemTM International Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA, USA) and the printing of the oligonucleotides was performed by using an AffymetrixTM 417 arrayer. Oligonucleotide solutions were prepared in 96-well-plates containing each 30 µl. The concentration of the printed oligonucleotides was 50 µM in 1x ArrayItTM Microarray Spotting Solution Plus. After spotting, the slides were incubated at 80 °C for 2 h. Slides were blocked in SSC containing 1% BSA (Sigma) for 45 min and rinsed with water for 5 min.

Description The microarray presents 262 oligonucleotides (50mers) spottet in triplicate encoding for selected genes involved in suberin and lignin synthesis in Oryza sativa. Synthetic 50mer oligonucleotides (Ocimum Biosolutions, Ijsselstein, Netherlands) were spotted in triplicates on aldehyde modified glass slides (VSS25, CEL Associates, Inc., Pearland, TX, USA) using an Affymetrix 417 arrayer.
