Title Skeletal muscle transcriptome profile in LLC mice model of cancer cachexia.
Organism Mus musculus
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary Cancer cachexia is a metabolic syndrome with alterations in gene expression profile that consequently lead to skeletal muscle wasting. Here, we used RNA sequencing to analyze the mRNA expression profile in the tibialis anterior muscles of the Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) model of cancer cachexia.

Overall design Eight-week-old healthy C57BL/10 male mice were inoculated subcutaneously with a total of 1.5 x106 LLC cells (7.5 x 105 cells in 0.1 mL PBS, in each flank). Ten mice (control group) were injected with equal volumes of 1X PBS. LCC and control mice were studied after 22 days after LLC cells inoculation when the LLC group had developed overt cachexia.
