Title |
Transcriptomic analysis of feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS) |
Organism |
Felis catus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
The purpose of this study was to characterize the transcriptomic alterations accompanying the inflammation involved in feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS). Towards this goal next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based gene expression profiling (RNA-Sequencing; RNA-Seq) was performed on matched pairs of FCGS diseased and healthy tissues obtained from three feline subjects.

Overall design |
A total of 6 total RNA samples were analyzed in this study. The study included matched pairs of inflamed feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS; diseased) and adjacent healthy mucosal tissues from the area lateral to the palatoglossal folds from 3 individual feline subjects: Bart, Jerome, and Sadie. Full-thickness 6-8 mm biopsies were obtained from inflamed and adjacent healthy oral mucosa and were collected under general anesthesia. Tissues were snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen, total RNA was isolated, and then samples submitted for RNA-sequencing analysis.
