Title |
Transcriptome of ex vivo-sorted and in vitro-grown Cryptococcus neoformans cells |
Organism |
Cryptococcus neoformans |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
We compared the transcriptome of subpopulations of Cryptococcus neoformans cells within the lungs and C. neoformans cells cultured in capsule repressing medium, capsule inducing medium, and capsule inducing medium with the addition of 10% conditioned medium from cells grown in capsule repressing medium. The aim of the study was to identify genes that regulate C. neoformans cell body and capsule size reductions.

Overall design |
Transcriptomic profiles of the smallest, middle, and largest Cryptococcus neoformans cells found in muring lungs 14 days post-intranasal inoculation. mRNA profiles of cells grown for 24 hours in capsule inducing medium, capsule inducing medium, or capsule repressing medium supplemented with 10% conditioned medium (filtered supernatant of cells grown in capsule repressing medium. Each sample was sequenced twice.
