Title Predictive Models of Drug Response in Canine Osteosarcoma: A Prospective Clinical Trial Testing the COXEN Approach
Organism Canis lupus familiaris
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary This was a prospective clinical trial testing the ability of gene expression models of drug sensitivity that were developed in human and canine cell lines and applied to outcomes in dogs treated with adjuvant carboplatin and/or doxorubicin. Tumor samples were collected prospectively, and gene expression analysis was conducted using Affymetrix Canine Genome 2.0 Arrays.

Overall design Tumor biopsy samples were collected using a Michele Trephine bone biopsy instrument and were reviewed by a veterinary pathologist for assessment of viable tumor present from each sample. Two samples from each tumor with the highest percent viable tumor were selected for mRNA isolation and subsequent Affymetrix Canine 2.0 microarray analysis.
