Title Exploring differentially expressed genes in hypothalamic (HT), pars tuberalis (PT) and pineal gland (PG) transcriptomes in different sexual behaviour phenotypes in rams using RNA-seq
Organism Ovis aries
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary To understand the mechanisms of sexual behaviour in rams, transcriptomic sequencing technology was used to identify differentially expressed genes in key brain tissues
We then performed gene expression profiling analysis using data obtained from RNA-seq of hypothalamus (HT), pars tuberalis (PT) and pineal gland (PG) in rams with different sexual behaviours

Overall design The PT, HT and PG transcriptomes of 12 Rasa Aragonesa rams (6 sexually active (A) and 6 not active (NA) for each tissue) were generated by Novaseq 6000 platform
Identifcation of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the 3 studied tissues. The multifactorial design was used where the state (A or NA) was defined as the primary contrast condition and the tissue (PT, HT, and PG) as the secondary contrast condition
