Title |
Measuring the effect of deoxycholate on Bacteroides fragilis gene expression |
Organism |
Bacteroides fragilis |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
We used RNAseq as an approach to assess the B. fragilis strain p207 response to the bile salt, deoxycholic acid (DC). A 6min DC exposure dramatically remodeled the transcriptome with approximately 20% of transcripts exhibiting significant changes. Chaperones and efflux systems were among the most highly induced genes, while protein synthesis genes were strongly repressed by DC.

Overall design |
RNA-seq data were collected on triplicate samples of B. fragilis RNA from: 1) cells not exposed to deoxycholate (DC), 2) cells exposed to 0.01% DC for 6 minutes, and 3) cells exposed to 0.01% DC for 20 minutes.
