Title |
Assessing kidney injury induced by mercuric chloride in guinea pigs with in vivo and in vitro experiments [in vitro] |
Organism |
Cavia porcellus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
In this study we tested the ability to predict organ injury from in vitro transcriptomics data at early time points after exposure to mercury chloride (12 and 24 hours). We selected mercury chloride, a compound extensively used in animal studies for its ability to cause acute kidney damage.

Overall design |
We isolated the renal proximal tubules epithelial cells from 6- to 8-week-old guinea pigs and were exposed to vehilce or mercuric chloride dose of 30 and 40 µM as the low and high doses. RNA-seq data were collected 12 and 24 hours after application of vehicle or mercuric chlroide.
