Treatment protocol Twenty daphnids (Two-week old) were exposed to 1 L of COMBO medium containing 1/10 LC50 concentration of each chemical with four replicates
Growth protocol D. Magna were obtained from Aquatic Research Organisms (Hampton, NH) and cultured at 20C in modified COMBO medium. Culturing medium was renewed three times a week, and Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (formerly Selenastrum capricornutu) and YCT added for food.

Extraction protocol After 24 h exposure, total RNA was extracted with Trizol (Invitrogen, CA, USA) according to the standard method.
