Treatment protocol The tumor tissue and the normal lung tissue were harvested from the surgery and snap frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80°C until RNA isolation.

Extraction protocol The RNA was isolated with standard TRIZOL methods.
Label Cy3
Label protocol The ligation of Cy3 was done using the Agilent's miRNA Complete Labeling kit using sample input of 300 ng of total RNA. This was done according to the Agilent's MicroRNA protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol 17 ul of labeled miRNA sample using the Agilent's Hyb kit. It was then incubated at 100°C for 5 minutes before transferring to ice water. The samples were hybridized to Agilent-031181 miRNA microarray v.16, 8 x 60 K for 20 hours at 55°C in a rotating Agilent hybridization oven. After hybridization, microarrays were washed with GE Wash Buffer 1 and 2 (Agilent).
Scan protocol Slides were scanned after washing using Agilent Microarray Scanner.
Description MicroRNA expression in normal lung tissue.
Data processing The raw data were preprocessed with Agilent's Feature Extraction Software with default parameters (Agilent feature extraction version 10.7.3.1).
Normalization was performed by using the GeneSpring GX Analysis Software v.12.1 (Agilent Technology) by the 90th percentile method. Data were preprocessed by log2 transformation and the values were baseline shifted to the median of all samples.
