Treatment protocol Mice bearing similar volume of tumors were chosen and divided into four groups randomly with 6 mice in each group. Mice from different groups were treated with 10 mg/kg of TAX, DSNs, equivalent BSNs or glucose (GLU) separately by tail vein injection with the frequency of every 4 days. Body weight and tumor size were measured every 3 days. Mice were sacrificed on day 12 (D12) and tumor tissues were isolated and frozen in liquid nitrogen immediately for RNA isolation
Growth protocol Tumor suppression effects of DSNs and TAX were investigated with tumor-bearing female BALB/c nude mice in JOINN Laboratories (Beijing, China). BALB/c nude mice were purchased from Vital River Laboratories (Beijing, China). Mice were subcutaneous injected with MCF-7 cells. After three weeks, the tumor bearing mice were sacrificed for further experiments. The tumor tissues were isolated and cut into pieces at about 2 mm3 under aseptic conditions. Around 4-5 weeks old mice were subcutaneously inoculated with tumor tissues on the right flank. Tumors were allowed to grow to about 50-100 mm3.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 6 ug total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix).
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 10 ug of cRNA were hybridized with Genechip Hybridization Oven 640. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned with Genechip Scanner 3000
Description GLU_r1
tumor bearing mice were treated with 10 mg/kg of glucose (GLU) by tail vein injection with the frequency of every 4 days. Mice were sacrificed on day 12 (D12) and tumor tissues were isolated.
Data processing The expression raw data was preprocessed using Robust Multichip Analysis (RMA) with quantile normalization and custom CDF file hgu133plus2hsentrezgcdf, v17.1.0
