Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the Affymetrix IVT protocol from 3µg total RNA (3'IVT ExpressTechnical Manual).

| Hybridization protocol |
Following fragmentation, 15 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on GeneChip Human Genome U133B Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 450 with HWS kit.

GeneChips were scanned using the Affymetrix GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G.

| Data processing |
Signal intensity for each transcript and detection call (present, absent, or marginal) were determined using MAS 5.0 Software (Affymetrix). Interarray normalization was performed using a set of internal standard genes (normalization set ϩ internal controls) leading to the determination of a scaling factor.
