Treatment protocol |
Adult male C57Bl/6 mice were placed in individual compartments within a chamber and exposed to 500 ppm SO2 in air for 4 hr.

Growth protocol |
Mouse tracheas were cleaned well, cut into pieces and incubated in Dispase at RT for 23min. Digestion was stopped by addition of DMEM with 5% FBS. Epithelium was peeled off with forcepsThe remaining total mesenchyme was used without further manipulation

Hybridization targets were prepared with MessageAmp™ Premier RNA Amplification Kit (Applied Biosystems/Ambion, Austin, TX) from total RNA.

Data processing |
Affymetrix Expression Console version 1.1 was used to generate the .cel files. Partek Genomics Suite 6.5 (Partek Inc., St. Louis, MO) was used to perform data analysis. Robust multi-chip analysis (RMA) normalization was done on the entire data set.
