Data was mapped to transcriptome assemblies of each species. If a species did not have an assembled transcriptome, a closely related species (i.e., within same genus) was used. MethylC-seq analysis were performed as described in Schmitz et al. (2013; Genome Research). Genome_build: At the time of submission, the assembled transcriptomes used for read alignment were not publicly available.
