Longissimus dorsi muscle were collected, flash frozen on dry ice, and RNA was harvested using Trizol reagent. TruSeq RNA Sample Preparation Guide (Part#15008136 Rev.A, Illumina) was used with 3 ug of total RNA for the construction of sequencing libraries. RNA libraries were prepared for sequencing using standard Illumina protocols

Sequenced reads were trimmed for adaptor sequence, and masked for low-complexity or low-quality sequence using CLC Genomics Workbench(version:4.8) Clean reads were aligned onto the whole reference genome (Sus scrofa 10.2) using TopHat The number of fragments per kilobase of exon length million mapped reads (FPKM) analyzed by Cufflink (version 2.1.2) was used as the value of the normalized gene expression.
