Source name |
Liver tissue from mice after treadmill run fed with control diet
|
Organism |
Mus musculus |
Characteristics |
strain/background: C57BL/6N age: 11-12 weeks gender: Male tissue: Liver diet: control exercise: treadmill run
|
Treatment protocol |
As described in the paper. Briefly, mice were assigned to either a diet supplemented with 100 mg/kg vitamin C and 2,000 IU/kg vitamin E (as α-tocopheryl acetate) or to control diet (0 mg/kg vitamin C, 149 IU/kg vitamin E) based on the purified diet C1000 (Altromin, Lage, Germany). After 4 weeks of feeding, at an age of 11-12 weeks, the animals were subjected to an acute bout of exercise (60 min at 13 m/min and 14° inclination) on a treadmill as described previously (Hoene et al., 2010). Mice remaining in their cages, but in close proximity to the treadmill, served as controls and were deprived of food for the last 60 min before they were killed, to align with the feeding state of the exercised group.
