Total RNA of each 7 representative mice was prepared by Trizol method then further purified by RNAeasy kit (Qiagen, USA). The left and right mPFC RNA of susceptible, resilient and control mice was used for microarray analysis with the MouseRef-8_V2 Expression BeadChip (Illumina).

Data processing |
The prepared microarrays were preprocessed by the Illumina GenomeStudio software (version 1.0.6). Raw signals of at least two biological replicates per condition were transformed to log2 scale and normalized by using the Bioconductor lumi package. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by using the Bioconductor limma package with an false discovery rate (FDR) adjusted p-value cutoff of 0.05.
