Treatment protocol Rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta; WNV-seronegative; 2–3-year-old) were inoculated intrathalamically (bilaterally) with a dose of 5.0 log10 PFU of wild-type WNV strain NY99-35262. CNS tissue from these animals was systematically collected for downstream analyses

Extraction protocol The miRNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen) was used to extract total RNA

Label protocol The cDNA (3.75 μg) was fragmented and labeled using the Encore Biotin Labeling Kit
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, samples were hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on GeneChip Rhesus Macaque.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned using the Affymetrix 7G Scanner.
