Blood was collected in PaxGeneTM Blood RNA Tubes (PreAnalytiX GmbH, A Qiagen/BD Company, Switzerland). Total RNA from white blood cells was isolated using PaxGeneTM RNA Kit (PreAnalytiX GmbH, A Qiagen/BD Company, Switzerland) according to manufacturer’s protocol. DNAse I treatment was done on columns using RNase-Free DNase Set (Qiagen GmbH, Hilden, Germany) according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

Sample was labeled using 1 µg of total RNA and GeneChip® Expression 3’-Amplification One-Cycle Target Labeling and Control Reagents Kit (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA, USA) according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

Sample was hybridized to GeneChip® Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA, USA), and washed using GeneChip® Fluidics Station 450 and user prepared solutions according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

Slide was scanned using GeneChip® Scanner 3000 7G and images were analyzed using GCOS (GeneChip® Operating Software).
