Samples obtained from FFPE tissue blocks were needle microdissected using the stereomicroscope Leica EZ4 (Leica Microsystems, Wetzlar, Germany) before RNA extraction, in order to isolate the target tumor or normal cell populations.

Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 130 ng total RNA (FlashTag ™ Biotin HSR RNA Labeling Kit - Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA).

Hybridization protocol |
Following labeling, the biotin -labeled sample were hybridized for 16 hr at 48C on GeneChip miRNA 4.0 Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Genechips Fluidics Station 450.

Scan protocol |
GeneChips were scanned using the Affymetrix Genechip Scanner 3000.

Data processing |
The data were analyzed with Transcriptome Analysis Console (TAC) Software.
