trimming of adapters using cutadapt (http://cutadapt.readthedocs.io/en/stable/guide.html). Reads with less than 16 bp insert sequences or with less than 10 bp Unique Molecular Index (UMI) were discarded. Alignment of reads was performed using bowtie (http://bowtie-bio.sourceforge.net/index.shtml), miRbase V21 was used for miRNAs.
