E14.5 mouse fetal livers from WT and Eklf-/- mouse fetuses were homogenized by repeated pipetting in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) (10 mM phosphate, 0.15 M NaCl [pH 7.4]). Total RNAs were then isolated with Trizol reagent (Invitrogen).
