Treatment protocol |
Cerebral ischemia was induced by permanent occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA) using a subtemporal approach (Qu et al., 2006). Male Wistar rats (250 - 300 g) were anesthetized with ketamine (75mg/kg, intraperitoneal) and xylazine (10mg/kg, intraperitoneal). The MCA was exposed through a subtemporal craniectomy and cauterized from the point proximal to its origin to the point where it intersects the inferior cerebral vein. Sham group was operated in the same way as the experimental group without the occlusion of MCA.

Extraction protocol |
RNA was extracted using the conventional Trizol method and cleaned up with QIAGEN RNeasy mini kit in accordance with the prescribed protocol provided with the kit. Quality control was performed with E-gene HDA-GT12 genetic analyzer.
