Total RNA was isolated using TRI Reagent (Sigma, Taufkirchen, Germany) according to the manufacturer’s protocol. After DNaseI treatment the RNA was cleaned up using the RNeasy Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany).

biotin-labeled cRNAs were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 500 ng total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix).

Following fragmentation, 10 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 42 C on Affymetrix Porcine Snowball Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 400.
