| Extraction protocol |
Total RNA was isolated using TRIZOL reagent (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA) as directed by the manufacturer. The quantity and quality of RNA was assessed with a Nanodrop 1000 spectrophotometer (Thermo Scientific, Waltham, MA) and Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies, Palo Alto, CA).

250 ng of RNA was synthesized to cDNA using the Ambion WT Expression Kit for Affymetrix GeneChip Whole Transcript Expression arrays (Life technologies, Grand Island, NY). Fragmentation and labeling of the cDNA was carried-out using the GeneChip WT Terminal Labeling Kit (Affymetrix) according to standard protocols.
