Extraction protocol Total RNA extraction and quantity/quality control were performed as described in Rinaldi et al. 2007. RNA quality was verified by Experion StdSens capillary gels (Bio-Rad). Double-stranded (ds) cDNA were synthesized using the SMARTer PCR cDNA Synthesis Kit (Clontech, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France), following manufacturer's instructions, with 0.5 μg of starting total RNA and 19 cycles of PCR amplification in 25μL. PCR products were purified with the QIAquick PCR Purification Kit (Qiagen, Couteboeuf, France) and quantified with a NanoDrop 1000 spectrophotometer (Labtech, Palaiseau, France).
