Description
MytArray 1.0 is a cDNA platform, that consists of 1,712 different clones obtained from systematic sequencing of multiple Mytilus galloprovincialis tissues cDNA library and 46 unrelated controls (ESTs from Coffea and bacterial species) printed in duplicate and twice per slide. This library was produced using a strategy that allows the selection of a short 3’-end region of mRNAs and the tagging of each transcript with an unique probe. Moreover, since the 3’-end non coding region is the least conserved part of the genes, a microarray constructed in this way greatly reduces the cross hybridization of different mRNAs derived from genes with high homology in the coding region to the same probe. The strategy was also designed to obtain 3’-tags with very uniform size (400-800 bp). This feature ensures that all the cDNA clones of the collection can be PCR-amplified and spotted with comparable efficiency and that production of microarrays with uniform hybridization characteristics be obtained.
