Manufacture protocol The CDMC_Drosophila_Oligo14kv1 and Oligo14kv2 arrays are printed on CMT-UltraGAPS slides (Corning Inc, Acton, MA) with an aminosilane coating using a SpotArray 72 microarrayer (Perkin Elmer, Boston, MA). There are 32448 spots on each array in a 12 row by 4 column arrangement of blocks (sub-grids). Each block contains 672 spots arrayed in a 26 row by 26 column grid. Spots designated as 'EMPTY' contain only NaPO4 spotting buffer for the 14kv1 arrays or 3x SSC for the 14kv2 arrays and occupy positions 23 through 26 of the 26th row. The blocks are spaced at 4500 micron intervals and the spot-to-spot distance is 166 microns. The nominal spot diameter is 125 microns. Description The CDMC_Drosophila_Oligo14k1 and The CDMC_Drosophila_Oligo14k2 platforms are oligonucleotide-based glass microarrays. Transcript-specific probes were designed by the International Drosophila Array Consortium (INDAC, www.indac.net) based on release 4.1 of the D. melanogaster genome and synthesized by Illumina (www.Illumina.com). This array is produced by the Canadian Drosophila Microarray Centre located at the University of Toronto. It is available for distribution to academic labs.
