Title The in vitro influence of orexin A on the porcine endometrium on days 15 to 16 of gestation.
Platform organism Sus scrofa
Sample organism Sus scrofa domesticus
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary Orexin A belongs to the group of hypothalamic-derived peptides that are involved in a number of processes, such as regulation of energy metabolism, control of food intake and regulation of the reproductive system. Orexin A is also expressed in the endometrium, myometrium and placenta, which suggests that it may act as an important local regulator of the reproductive functions. The aim of this study was to explore the influence of orexin A on global gene expression in the porcine endometrium during early gestation, on days 15 to 16 of pregnancy (implantation period).

Overall design We analyzed samples obtained from 4 individuals (n=4). Obtained from the uterine horns tissue explants were divided for two groups: controls [without treatment] and orexin A treated grous. The concentration of orexin A in the culture medium was 10 µM. In vitro tissue cultures were cultivated with treatments for 24 hours.
