Summary |
A greenhouse experiment was conducted at the Federal University of Alagoas in Maceio, Brazil. One-eye sett of sugarcane was planted in 20 liters plant pots, arranged in a completely randomized design and cultivated for 5 months before water privation.

Overall design |
In this experiment, we aimed to analyze large scale gene expression changes in leaf +1 and roots of sugarcane (cultivar SP80-3280) under drought and re-watering conditions. Tissue samples were collected after 4 and 6 days of water privation and after 2 days of re-watering. Well-watered plants were used as a control. Total RNA was extracted and used for hybridization experiments on a customized 4x44K oligoarray (Agilent Technologies) for sugarcane (CaneRegNet). The oligoarrays were read using the GenePix 4000B scanner device (Molecular Devices) and the fluorescence data was processed by Feature Extraction software 9.5.3 (Agilent Technologies).
