Title Transcriptome analysis reveals the contribution of glia -derived cues for maintenance of microglia identity in rhesus macaques
Organism Macaca mulatta
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary We analyzed the transcriptomes of different primary microglia cultures from adult rhesus macaques, and compared them with those of ex vivo microglia

Overall design Primary microglia cultured with M-CSF, IL-34, M-CSF + TGFb, IL-34 + TGFb (n=4). Primary microglia cultured with serum + M-CSF, serum (4days) + different serum-free wash out regimes (4, 11 and 18 days), and serum-free medium (22 days) (n=4). Primary microglia cultured with serum + M-CSF, with serum for 4 days and subsequently cultured in serum-free medium for 11 days, and microglia cultured in spheres together with oligodendrocytes and radial glia (n=4). Freshly isolated microglia (ex vivo) (n=4)
