Monocytes were isolated from buffy coats of healthy blood donors by lymphoprep density gradient centrifugation followed by plastic adherence and culture in IMDM containing 10% human pool serum, 1% penicillin/streptomycin (Invitrogen, San Diego, CA), and 0.25% ciproxin (Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany).
