Treatment protocol
Newborn rats were decapitated and the organ of Corti, modiolus and stria vascularis were prepared according to the protocol of Sobkovic [Sobkowicz HM, Loftus J M and Slapnick S M (1993) Tissue Culture of the Organ of Corti. Acta Otolaryngol Suppl Stockh 502: pp 3-36]. Preparation was carried out in buffered saline glucose solution on cooling boxes using a stereomicroscop. 24 hrs after onset of cultivation, regions of 3 cochleae were collected in a tube and stored in lysis buffer (Quiagen) at -80 °C.
