Treatment protocol Mice fed a high-cholesterol diet were orally administrated mulberry leaf extract as drinking water. After 4 weeks, mice were anesthetized and killed by exsanguination. Parts of liver of each mice was taken and immediately immersed in RNAlater (Applied Biosystems).
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol RNAiso extraction (Takara Bio) of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Label Cy3
Label protocol Cy3-labeled cRNA were prepared from 500 ng total RNA according to the standard Agilent protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 1.65 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 17 hr at 65C on a Whole Mouse Genome Microarray 4x44K (Agilent).
Scan protocol Microarrays were scanned using a DNA Microarray Scanner (Agilent).
Description gene expression data from liver of mouse fed a high-cholesterol diet with mulberry leaf extract
Data processing The scanned images were analyzed with Agilent Feature Extraction 10.1.1.1 (Agilent Technologies) to obtain background subtracted and spatially detrended Processed signal intensities. Signal intensities of same gene symbol were averaged using statistical language R (http://www.r-project.org/) and non-redundant gene list was obtained. The non-redundant data were normalized with quantile normalization (Bolstad et al., Bioinformatics, 2003;19:185–193) using R.
