Tissues were mechanically disrupted and simultaneously homogenized in the presence of TRIzol Lysis reagent and using a dismembrator (Braun Biotech International, Melsungen, Germany). RNA was extracted using the miRNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen) according to manufacturer’s instructions.
