Sequenced reads were trimmed for adaptor sequence, and masked for low-complexity or low-quality sequence, then aligned to pre-miRNA sequence in miRBase_v21
Sequenced reads with no mismatches and no more than 2 shifts were identified as one miRNA and formed the final miRNA expression profiles.
