| Growth protocol |
Birds were raised following grower standards outlined by our AACUC protocol (#(27)03-12-14R). Briefly, birds were raised on litter with ad libitum access to feed and water. First week house temperature: 35 degrees C with 5 degrees C decrease each week until 25 degrees celsius was reached. The house was maintained this temperature through completion of the trial at day 42 (typical market age). The house received 23 hours of light and 1 hour of dark for the entirety of the study. Necropsies were performed on Day 21, Day 22, Day 26, Day 32 and Day 42.

Birds were euthanized via cervical dislocation and necropsied on each day listed above. Abdominal adipose tissue and cardiac adipose tissue samples were collected and flash frozen with liquid nitrogen.
Libraries were constructed using the Illumina Stranded RNA-seq kit according to manufacturers instructions.
